long commitment to dignity and care.
A Personal Story Behind a Professional Promise
Matthysen Funeral Services was not only built as a business, it was born from lived experience of grief within our own family.
Before we served others, we stood as a grieving family ourselves. We experienced the weight of loss, the silence of farewell, and the deep need for respect, dignity, and compassion during one of life’s most vulnerable moments, while still having peace of mind
It is from these experiences that our purpose was formed and continued to be sharpened – to ensure that no family we serve ever feels unseen or unsupported.
Why This Matters To Us
Over the years, we have personally buried members of our own family – parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins who were deeply woven into the fabric of our lives.
Each farewell did not only bring sorrow. It deepened our understanding. It reminded us that every family deserves:
- Time to grieve without pressure
- Care without condition
- Service without compromise
- And dignity without exception
This is not only our profession – it is our lived reality.

Our Philosophy
“We do not only serve families in their time of loss – we have stood where they stand. This is why every farewell we conduct carries both professionalism and personal understanding.”
— Matthysen Funeral Services —
Always Guided by Memory. Always Led by Care
Matthysen Funeral Services continues in honour of those we have lost – and in service to those who need us today.
From Our Family to Yours
“Care in every detail”
Our personal experiences have shaped the way we serve every family entrusted to us.
We understand that grief is not a process to be managed – but a journey to be honoured.
This understanding is reflected in everything we do:
- Gentle and respectful service delivery
- Structured yet compassionate arrangements
- Calm guidance during emotional moments
- Dignified presentation of every farewell
